My 2019 Holiday Wishlist

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I thought I would do a holiday wishlist of all the items I’m hoping to grab either this week during Black Friday or just buy as a gift to myself. Hope you all enjoy seeing all the things I will be spending all my money on! I’ll also update this post as things go on sale or sell out.

Christmas Party Dress

I already know I’ll have a few Christmas parties to go to this December. I’m so over the typical sequin dresses for the holidays. I’m looking for statement dresses with volume, ruffles, ribbons, and bows! I also included a ruffle bustier top from House of CB, which will stand out just as much as any statement dress. I’m basically saying I’m the best Christmas gift you’ll get this year.

Gathered Puff Bow Mini Dress from Other Stories ($149)
It’s My BDAY Mini Dress from AKIRA ($45)
DELPHINA GOLD LAME RUFFLE BUSTIER from House of CB ($105)

Puffy Coat

Although I have already bought a couple of chic wool coats for winter and I have my J. Crew Chateau Parka from last year, I want a puffy coat! Something for my more casual days and looks bomb with athleisure. In every other aspect of my style I love neutrals, but there’s nothing like a colorful coat to bring a little life into the dull, cold, and grey winter. Also, I’ve included the J.Crew Chateau Parka that I already own in green because I’ve considered getting it in a different color. I know it’s not puffy, but it’s a good coat that can be all the way dressed down or all the way up. Plus, J.Crew already has it for 40% off this week!!

St. Anton Parka from Aritzia ($350)
TEMPTATIONS JACKET from BLANKNYC ($198)
Chateau Parka in Italian stadium-cloth wool from J. Crew ( $375 now $225 )

Sweater Dress

I’ve been wanting a sweater dress for two winters now, but I just haven’t been able to find a good one! It’s tough to find one thats not too tight or too big that it just makes me look big. I think one of these options may work out, let’s hope I can snag them on a deal! (Probably ordering the Abercrombie one as you read this.)

UO Jill Turtleneck Sweater Dress from Urban Outfitters ($69 now $59)
Mock Neck Sweater Dress from Abercrombie & Fitch ($78 now $39)
Cocoa Sweater from Free People ($148)

Boots

Chocolate is really hot right now (hot chocolate)! The only thing hotter than chocolate is probably snakeskin and croc skin. I really want some chic chocolate boots or some croc/snakeskin chocolate boots to *Jamie Foxx voice* really set this party off right! P.S. I’ve already ordered the first pair of Jaggar boots. I couldn’t pass up on 70% off. I’ll forever refer to them as my hot chocolate boots.

JAGGAR Bold Block Heel Ankle Boots from Shopbop ($210 now $63)
VAGABOND SHOEMAKERS Joyce Bootie from Nordstrom ($159.95)

Thanks for checking out my holiday wish list. Hope you all find some great deals this week on all the things you’ve been eyeing. Let me know what’s on your list this winter!

Weekend in Chicago

Greetings From Chicago Mural

A few weeks ago I ventured to the cold and windy city of Chicago for a friend’s birthday. OK, yes I know I’m from Michigan where the weather is not much different, but that lake effect in Chi-town is no joke! Rain or shine- and apparently freezing temperatures and snow, I’m still going to do some shopping.
For this weekend trip, I visited three different boutiques in the Chicago area and even bought some awesome pieces to add to my wardrobe. Read on about my experience of each and check out my YouTube for the video of my shopping experience with a look at what I bought. Vlog of the weekend will be out soon!

Shopping

Bliss and Belle ($$)
Bliss and Belle is a gorgeously decorated boutique with trendy pieces and interesting accessories you can’t pass up. The fitting room area was adorable and definitely Instagram worthy with their neon sign “insert here the outfit quote”. I’d definitely recommend Bliss and Belle for the trendy shopper.

Moon Voyage ($$$)
Moon Voyage came up repeatedly when looking into Chicago shops. Although on the pricier side, it did not disappoint. With gorgeous indie pieces and a well-curated vintage section, Moon Voyage is a must stop if you’re willing to spend a little more.

Kokorokoko ($$)
Kokorokoko is honestly my favorite. I owned nothing vintage before this trip and now have 4 vintage pieces. Including a gorgeous vintage Gucci bag! It’s a colorful shop with tons of the ’80s, ’90s, and even ’70s pieces. Their items aren’t limited to just clothes and accessories either. They even have vintage knick-knacks (baseball cards, scrunchies, magazines, coffee mugs, and cassette tapes). Go check it out!

A Girl’s Gotta Eat

So although I’m more focused on shops, a girl’s gotta eat! These are a couple of the food places I visited and would recommend.

Pequod’s Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza

Pequod’s Pizza
Pequod’s deep dish is unmatched. The crust is perfectly caramelized with the cheese and the sauce well spiced. This place is packed on the weekends. The line was literally out the door (in January). I’d say plan ahead for a bit of a wait or even call ahead and just pick it up. I went with a classic pepperoni deep dish. Sidenote: This pizza will be the reason I return to Chicago.

Yolk
Go here for a great breakfast! Yolk has 8 locations in Chicago so no matter where you’re staying one is probably not far. They do twists on traditional breakfast favorites. My go to is the Red Velvet or Very Berry French toast.  They also are BYOB with no corkage fee, so bring something to enjoy for the full bubbly brunch experience!
